Women in Focus: Radka
Before the first line is sketched and before fabric meets the body, there is intuition — quiet, attentive, deeply human.
In the work of Radka Kubková, design begins exactly there: in sensitivity, experience, and an intimate dialogue with material and detail. Her creations speak softly yet confidently, shaped by years of craft, patience, and an unwavering respect for natural beauty. In this interview, our chief designer opens the door to her inner world — a place where balance, intuition, and strength are woven seamlessly into every piece she creates.
How do you approach design — intuitively, structurally, emotionally?
“From the very beginning of my clothing design work, I have worked intuitively, and as a person grows older, experience is added to that intuition. This also brings advantages—one makes fewer mistakes.”
Detail is central to the Port of Stars aesthetic — which small details in life move or inspire you?
“Besides cut, proportions, and material, working with detail is essential to me. I have had a literal feel for detail under my skin since my school years, when I learned lace-making techniques.”
Fabric is the foundation of our work — which materials do you naturally gravitate toward, and why?
“I work exclusively with natural materials. All varieties of cotton, silk, and wool. The very touch of these materials already gives me a feeling of satisfaction.”
In your view, what is a distinctly feminine superpower?
“What is a woman’s visible strength? I believe it is balance—an inner harmony that directly radiates from strong women.”
