Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is deeply embedded in the art of collaboration, craft, and sustainability. Each piece is approached individually, with special care in the finest detail to create pieces that evoke intrigue over prettiness. Every piece is handmade locally and often hand-stitched to create a unique look, producing designs that combine craft with luxury.

Our Story

Port of Stars is a Czech studio established in 2019 by founder Yasmin K. Hejduk and partner Jana Kapounová with the intention to create timeless pieces with a conscious approach. Enlisting and designing alongside Chief Designer Radka Kubková the studio focuses on zero waste and local production.

With over 20 years of experience in the Fashion Industry, each member of the team brings a unique attribute to the design process. Collectively we see Port of Stars as a beginning of a movement to a slower, more conscious way of retail. We are not producing bespoke pieces per se but still carry that attitude to create pieces that have a “made for me” aesthetic. We consider our work more in line with fashion artistry than following any given trend.

Sparked by an idea to create limited pieces to cherish and hold and someday treat as vintage heritage continuing the stories of travel, adventure and love.

Local Production

All the pieces are produced in Czechia or Slovakia. Working with local seamstresses and workshops to guarantee the highest quality of products with the least amount of carbon emission. Focusing on local talent is another aspect of the Studio's love of collaboration. With many intricate details and needlework made by local specialists and artisans.

Our Process

The founding design process started with a simple idea to create universal patterns that would become the studio's foundation, with each collection reinterpreting and organizing the designs to create new looks. Each collection starts with an inspiration trigger and is then unraveled through storytelling to create a linear thought that carries through every piece.

Fabric and Sustainability

Making sustainable choices is the most important aspect of the studio, without compromising the designs' quality or integrity. Where possible working with organic cotton, natural linen, silk, and often using leftover materials from fabric providers. Through clever design and experience of Radka Kubková all leftover fabrics and small cuts are saved and reincorporated into future designs to maintain a zero-waste approach. With this philosophy, there is continuity in the pieces and small reminders of the previous collections making each garment truly original.
